Frequently Asked Questions
If your question has not been answered below please contact me to discuss your query.
Will there be practical training and assessment to do?
Yes most of the course is practical based. You will need to be able to get down to floor level and up again with relative ease in order to complete the course and assessments.
I have medical issues that may make it difficult to complete some tasks, can I still complete the course?
If you have a medical issue that you feel may be an issue on the course please contact me first to discuss your needs. Most of the time there are ways round issues to enable people to complete the course. It is better to ask and discuss your concerns before you book on a course rather than when you turn up for the course.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement especially when getting up and down from the floor. Ladies, trousers are preferable to skirt or dresses. Flat shoes or trainers are preferable to heeled shoes or boots.
Most venues are a comfortable temperature all year round but dress according to the weather anyway. If there is no air conditioning in the summer it could get hot, if the heating takes a while to warm the room in the winter it could be cold to begin with.
How long is the course?
This depends on which course you are booking on to, please visit the courses page for details. The length of course noted is the total training hours and does not take into account breaks. So a 6 hour 1 Day course would be run over 7 hours to include break times.
My 3 day first aid at work certificate is out of date, can I do a re-qualification (refresher)course?
Unfortunately not. If your 3 year certificate has expired you will have to redo the initial course. The re-qualification course is only if your three year certificate is still in date.
How do I know which course is best for me?
Visit our courses page and read through the details of each of the possible courses that might suit you and your circumstances. If you are still unsure please contact me to discuss your requirements and I can point you in the right direction.
How many people will be on the course?
The maximum number of delegates on a course is 12, this is the maximum recommended by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive).
If there was a course required for more than 12 delegates then extra instructors would be brought in to comply with HSE regulations.
Is there a formal exam?
No there is not a formal exam. All assessment is completed throughout the course in a relaxed way. My aim is to ensure everyone leaves feeling confident in their understanding and skills.
